CueMonkey 1.0

A cue console for Mac, for theatres, churches and schools. Sound, video, pictures and a live camera from one list of cues, on the space bar, with the whole show in one file.

14 October 2026

What it is

Drag in your audio, video and images, put them in the order they happen, and run the show from one key. Blackout takes every screen to black and stops nothing under it. Clear takes the running order off. Every sound and every film is inside the show file, so a show on a memory stick opens whole on a Mac that has never seen any of it.

It was built in a theatre booth, by the person who runs sound there, and it ran real shows in the versions before this one, the ones whose numbers began with a nought.

What 1.0 means

One promise, about your files. A show saved by CueMonkey 1.0 opens in every 1.x that comes after it, and plays as it did. What changes from here changes around your shows, not under them.

And the rules it has always kept stay kept. A licence never stops a show. It needs no internet during a performance. It never updates itself behind your back. Your shows never leave your Mac.

Solo and Pro

Solo is free with an account, and it is not a trial. It runs a whole show:

  • Every kind of cue, every fade and every trim, as many cues as the show needs
  • One layer, one act, one screen for the audience and one saved venue
  • One Mac at a time, and you move it yourself, at once
  • No card, no watermark and no end date

Pro is for a show that has grown past that. It adds:

  • Up to four layers, and as many acts as the show needs
  • More than one screen for the audience, and every venue you play kept by name
  • Save a locked copy, to hand a show over to be run as it is
  • Two Macs on one licence: the one running the show, and a standby that follows every GO and takes over with one press
  • A named person to write to, answered ahead of the queue

Rent Pro for a day or a week, as calendar days where you are, or own it for good with every 1.x update. Every rented day that has ended comes off the price of owning it. Nothing renews.

If you used CueMonkey before 1.0: Solo's limits begin on the day Pro goes on sale, and until then everything stays as it is. After it, every show you have already made still opens, plays and can be changed, every layer and every act of it.

What comes next, in 1.1

A remote for the iPad, so the show can be called from anywhere in the room while the Mac does the playing. And MIDI, OSC and timecode, for a booth where CueMonkey is one of several things that have to move together. Both are being built now. Neither is in 1.0, and both are announced on What changed when they arrive.
